Project Description:
This project is an outreach to victims, potential victims, and their families of sexual abuse in Floida's jails and their prisons. In addition to one-on-one, group, and off-site counseling, the project will raises public awareness about the incidents, the detriments, and costs of sexual assaults to prisoners and non-prisoners alike. Additionally, acting as a public service watchdog and clearing house of information FAIR/SIRA will serve the community at large
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
(1) Give victims of sexual abuse in jail and prisons a timely and confidential method to contact rape victim advocates and counselors. (2) Give sexual abuse victims and advocates and counselors access to jails and prisons with inmates who are victims of sexual abuse are held. (3) provide inmates and jail/prison staff with materials and training on how to avoid and prevent sexual violence epiosdes. (4) Provide a venue for juveniles to report abuse while placed in an adult facility.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
(1) Increase awareness of sexual violence and its prevention. (2) Provide resource information. (3) Increase the reporting of sexual violence. (4) Implement statewide rape risk reduction public awareness campaign. (5) Implement data correction.
