Project Description:
Most community based African American and Hispanic AIDS Organizations are loosely connected at best. Consequently, they often move with the same goal, but in different directions, at different times, at different beats. With HIV and AIDS afflicting the African American and Hispanic communities in epidemic numbers, it is essential that these grassroot entities that are at ground zero, in the trenches, work together as a unit, or as an army, in the fight against the disease. This project is designed to build a network and coalition of these entities for mutual benefit with the ultimate goal to make the prevention and treatment of AIDS as efficient as the cancer prevention and treatment entities.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
FBAN will assess the need of AIDS service organizations and assist them in developing short, mid-term, and long term strategies. FBAN will assist AIDS service organizations in building and maintainining organization integrity. FBAN will assist AIDS service organizations in locating and securing private and publlic funding. FBAN will assist in the training of AIDS service organization employees and staff.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Of the employees and staff trained, 75% will improve their abiltiy to meet the foundational needs of their particular agency in a more efficient and expedient manner. Funding will be increased for service organizations that submit to FBAN's fundraising plan. AIDS service organizations will increase their connectivity and network status through newsletters, seminars, conventions, conference and planning sessions.
