Services provided at the Center include: private and group counseling, responding to the calls to the abuse hotline, treatment plans for the entire family, community outreach and prevention services. An estimated 32% of children who have been abused will become abusive themselves. Through treatment and prevention programs, future crime may be prevented. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Welfare and sexual abuse are intertwined in at least two ways. Children who grow up poor, especially those with unmarried mothers, face an increased risk of being abused. Abused children are in turn more likely to have problems that could lead them to welfare as adults. Sexually abused girls, for instance are more likely to become teenage mothers. Teenage mothers are more likely to drop out of school. Dropouts, in turn, face reduced job prospects. In addition, once on welfare, the abused often experience other problems such as; addiction, depression and violent relationships. All these problems affect the state's welfare system. Through treatment and prevention programs, future crime may be prevented. |
