Project Description:
The Allapattah Community Action, Inc., proposes the delivery of additional congregate meals to 133 at-risk elders and to another 343 homebound non-ambulatory or handicapped elders in its waiting list.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Gerontology journals contain ample data regarding the effect of nutrients in prolonging the health and productive lives of our senior citizens. Conversely, the absence of meals and other sevices we provide to the isolated and destitute elders leads to a decline in quality of life, early institutionalization, and signficantly higher cost of health care.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Delivery of 133 congregate & 343 homebound unduplicated meals to elgible participants each day.
