Project Description:
The AIDS Insurance Continuation Program continues to pay for health insurance coverage for Florida residents that are diagnosed with AIDS or are HIV Symptomatic and cannot afford their private health insurance premiums.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Florida will save a substantial amount of money that would have been spent on public health care, had participants lost their insurance coverage.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
We anticipate the Insurance Continuation Program will save the state of Florida $7.36 in health care costs for every dollar spent on the program. Between 1990-98, the AIDS Insurance Continuation Program has saved the state of Florida over $64 million in health care costs at an average rate of $8.00 saved in health care costs for every dollar spent on the program.
