Project Description:
Plug and abandon 19 existing, out-of-service, irrigation wells on 4900 acers of what was First American Farms. Property in now WRP wellfield. Wells are 10" diameterand 500' deep, penetrating the Floridan Aquifer.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Plugging old wells will protect the Floridan Aquifer; the water source for Okaloosa and Walton Counties and help ensure public safety.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
19 Floridan Aquifer wells will be plugged and capped.
