Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A riverfront maritime museum and village cultural center located at the mouth of the St. Johns River in a 4000 sq.ft. historic building, featuring Florida maritime and fishing history.  The building needs complete restoration to be turned into a maritime museum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

Support statewide tourism and regrowth of a depressed area that was selected as one of the three initial communities to be designated a "Waterfronts Florida Community" under the Department of Community Affairs under their Waterfronts Florida Partnership program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Create a tourist attraction at the juncture of the St. Johns River and the historic Buccanneer Trail (Highway A1A).  Bring significant economic growth to the historic village of Mayport which will encourage new commercial activity and allow for the continuation of the shrimp and fishing industry in the area.
