Project Description:
County Road 2 and 2-A is in dire need for resurfacing and paving. Due to its deteriorating conditions, safety is the main concern of the Walton County Board of Commissioners. C.R. 2 runs east and west from county line to county line of the two adjoining counties Okaloosa and Holmes. There are two bridges on C.R. 2 in dire need of replacement. Turkey Creek Bridge and Caney Creek Bridge. Walton County Board of Commissioners propose to resurface the entire span of County Road 2 & 2A and replace the Turkey Creek Bridge and the Caney Creek Bridge.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Safety is the major benefit if County Road 2 and 2-A are resurfaced and the two bridges replaced. County Road 2 and 2-A is an alternate evacuation route during the evacuation order for Walton and surrounding counties to Alabama. C.R. 2 is an alternate route, which is most beneficial during times of a disaster, when the roads are especially crowded.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
We anticipate a safe route for residents of Walton and evacuees from Walton and surrounding couties.
