Project Description:

The City of Daytona Beach proposes the construction of three (3) pedestrian overpasses in the vicinity of the Daytona International Speedway (DIS) located along US 92 (International Speedway Boulevard) in Volusia County, Fl

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

These (3) overpass structures are part of ISC's overall traffic management plan which is designed to improve traffic circulation and safety and will enhance pedestrian mobility along the US 92 corridor from Interstate 95 to Clyde Morris Boulevard.  This multi-modal plan includes the development of strategically placed surface parking lots that would be integrated with a "people-mover" or shuttle service to and from the DIS facility in order to improve site circulation and accessibility.  The ISC traffic management plan also incorporates the implementation of certain surface transportation improvements such as the expansion of Bill France Boulevard.  This plan benefits the overall community by improving safety, network circulation and access to DIS and surrounding community developments.  These privately-funded improvements may be developed independently from the pedestrian overpasses.  This project will facilitate and enhance statewide economic growth attributed to events at DIS which currently generate an estimated economic and community development benefit in excess of $1.8 billion, annually.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

It is anticipated that these improvements will result in a measurable decrease in pedestrian/vehicular crassh occurrences on an annual basis.  In addition, this plan will improve traffic flow in the vicinity of DIS and sorrounding business community.  These improvements will also encourage economic development and growth in the business corridor along US 92.
