Project Description:
In 1996, The Town of Golden Beach developed their Stormwater Management Master Plan as a result of two conditions: regular street and property flooding and the additional requirements of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit regulations. This stormwater project involves the installation of 4 pumps and 2 deep injection. Once implemented the plan will remove the quanity of water generated by the 5-year storm (7.6 inches of rain in a 24 hour period) as required by the stormwater regulations of Miami-Dade County for drainage systems serving two-lane residential streets.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The Town of Golden Beach is a coastal, residential community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida just south of the Broward/Dade County li8ne. The Town's existing stormwater system is comprised of undersized drainage pipes, numerous, small diameter outfalls to the Intercoastal Waterway and catch basins which are constantly settling or caving in due to poor underlying soils. The goal of the implementation of this project is to reduce the frequency of flood impacts and to improve the quality of water discharged into adjacent coastal waters.
