Project Description:
Development of 3 regional Parent Information Centers to provide accessiblity to parents in obtaining information and completing the application and selection process related to the School Choice Program in Lee County. The application must be completed by the parent and/or guardian in person. This project will eliminate current geographical and logistical barriers.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
To provide enhanced access to School Choice information by establishing a permananet site in each of the 3 zones to enable parents and guardians ongoing availability of counseling related to school choice. The School Choice Program in Lee County is part of an initiative to improve education by creating a positive competition among the schools in each zone, improve parental involvement in the education process, and raise the academic performance of students in support of the Florida A+ Education Plan. Access to this process is essential to the success of this program.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
To assure all applications are completed within one-hour of arrival at a facility. 95% of the applicants will be able to access assistance with the application process within 10 miles of their home.
