Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Construct parking, accommodations and rest facilities for disaster relief workers (utility repairmen, etc.) who use the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds as a staging area when a hurricane, flood or severe storm strikes anywhere in Florida. Out-of-state power companies and relief workers use I-10 when coming from the west and Pensacola Interstate Fair has always accommodated workers and trucks, feeding the workers on the premises. This year the fairgrounds was used when emergency workers were dispatched to south Florida and the Carolinas.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

These facilities will make the logistics of temporarily housing hundreds of out-of-state disaster relief workers much less complicated, enabling them and their local counterparts to restore utility service in a more efficient, expedient manner following a major storm, flood or other disaster.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Faster response from out-of-state utilities (all), thereby saving endless hours of wasted travel by Floridians and saving lives.
