The Truancy Reduction & Intervention Program (TRIP) is designed to identify truants, determine the reason they are truant, assist in remediating the problem, and get the youth back in school. This program is currently located in central Broward County. This request is to fund two additional sites in north and south Broward County, thus making for a more efficient use of law enforcement officers' time. |

Once at a center, data on each youth will be available so that a meaningful assessment and counselling can be obtained and given. A service plan for each youth will be designed which may include case management to ensure follow up and ccordination of services. The immediate benefit to the state is the return of truants to the school. This will increase the youths' ability to become a productive resident and lower the juvenile crime rate. |
