Construction Money for the West Volusia Student Services/Administration Building

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

Opportunities for workforce education and job training for citizens of the west part of Volusia County.  Project was "bumped" off-track prior to 1999 Legislative process due to a decline in PECO funds.  The project was funded for planning in the 1999 Legislative Session.  If construction is "put off" until the 2001-2002 Legislative Session, it is anticipated that the cost of this project will increase to the state.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Increased enrollments in education and job training programs via accessible training facilities and child care facilities.  By increasing enrollments, more trained workers will be produced for the workforce.  Getting this building back on track will ease crowding in the current library on the west campus where some of the student services and administrative offices are housed presently.  DBCC is facing a SACS re-accreditation process and adequate space for student services functions are required.
