Project Description:
to recruit, train, seat and implement panels of trained citizen volunteers to conduct judicial hearings of children under court supervision due to abuse and/or neglect, thereby propelling the children through the dependency system and into safe, permanent placements
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
trained citizen volunteers conduct judicial review hearings of children under court supervision due to abuse and/or neglect, as outlined in 39.702 F.S. Decreases need for additional judgeships and support staff /generates Federal IV-E funding for State/ increases community awareness and collaboration/provides pertinent statistical information/ engages community in dependency court process
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Citizen review panels will conduct reviews thereby decreasing the need for additional judiciary and support staff/ collaborate with state agencies to draw down Federal dollars/collect and report data & trends to key decision makers/conduct hearings in mandated timelines/ensure provision of services & case progress/form a statewide assoc. of citizen review programs.
