Project Description: |
The program would create a partnership between the school district and other community agencies to provide educational programs for students who have been suspended from school. |

Services Provided/Benefit to State: |
The state will benefit because the program allows students who have been suspended and would otherwise not be receiving educational-type services to continue with classes. Therefore, even though the student is removed from "regular" school, the student can be "in attendance" of school for the length of the suspension. This allows students to keep up with their education and helps break the chronic absenteeism and truancy cycle that exists among some students. By continuing with educational-type classes upon suspension, suspended students are not seemingly "rewarded" for the behavior that got them suspended. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
The outcome should be an improvement of student attendance and thereby lessening the absenteeism and truancy rate. Additionally, students will continue to be educated even though they are not allowed to attend regular school classes. The program will allow students to keep up with the rest of the students in their class. |
