Project Description: |
A person titled a "Truancy Specialist" will be posted at "At-Risk Schools." These specialists will make home visits, provide parent programs, and connect families to community resources to help them address problems that are contributing to their child's truancy. |

Services Provided/Benefit to State: |
These specialists will work with chronically truant students and their families. Families with problems that have led children to truancy will be helped to allow them to deal with their problems. The goal of reducing truancy is one that sees all children being better educated and becoming more productive citizens. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
The rate of truancy should be reduced at "At-Risk Schools." Parents of chronically truant students will be provided assistance that should allow them to be much more involved with the school to ensure their child's attendance and involvement in school. |
