Project Description:
Enhancement of the existing funds for 3 statewide poison information centers to provide for increased workload and expense of continuing operation of emergency information service; requesting these dollars be added to the base included in Department of Health budget; request consideration for recurring funding.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Poison prevention education and awareness to prevent accidental poisonings and reduction of costs associated with inappropriate use of emergency medical services (EMS) and hospital emergency department services; requesting these funds be added to the base included in the Department of Health budget; request consideration for recurring funding.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
To decrease health expenditures related to hospital emergency department visits and ambulance runs by emergency medical services units.
