Research evaluation of SUN, a group-counseling program for teens and pre-teens, designed to prevent destructive and self-destructive behaviors, increase the ability to make healthy choices, teach a method to solve and cope with problems, decrease violent confrontations and reduce impulsiveness. (Please refer to research proposal previously submitted.) |

Once demonstrated to be effective, SUN can be expanded throughout the state. There should be a reduced need for mental health and other services for the children going through this program. The evaluation of this program, being piloted in Broward County, will generate federal funding to match the state and county's efforts. |
