Project Description:

Miami-Dade county proposes to develop a comprehensive system for the issuance and processing of traffic citations in an electronic format.  This system will be installed on an existing base of mobile computers which are being deployed in over 1,000 patrol cars by the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD). The eCitation system will be one of several systems available to officers using the (MDPD) ePolice wireless system. The eCitation system will transmit citations directly to the Clerk's Traffice Court imaging system (SPIRIT) as well as the FACC TCATS.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The Miami-Dade eCitation system will reduce citation issuance errors, eliminate ancillary tasks and promote productive and efficient disposition of citations.  In addition, it will facilitate identification of persons charged by using thumbprints, reduce data entry by data capture in the field and reuse thereafter, eliminate document scanning by automated production of forms, improve timeliness of filing by process automation, improve accountability for citations by using automated processes, improve statistics by using automated processes, and improve uniformity and integrity by automating data quality control.
