Orlando Executive Airport has been selected to serve as the "host airport" for the National Business Aviation Association's annual convention in 2002, 2003 and 2006. The Association hopes to select Orlando to serve again in 2007 and 2011; however, the location choice for those years has not been finalized. Orlando only received the 2002 opportunity after conference organizers canceled their original convention site in Los Angeles.

With over 30,000 in attendance, this event represents the largest annual gathering of aviation professionals (pilots, corporate executives, mechanics, etc.)in the United States. NBAA's static display is located at OEA and all conference meetings and exhibitions are held at the Orange County Convention Center.

FDOT has provided some funding toward these improvements. However, having 4 commercial airports and 15 general aviation airports within their jurisdiction, District 5 currently does not have enough resources available to fund the project at this time.
