Project Description:
The City of Hallandale Beach Cultural Community Center is utilized by an average of 6,200 individuals annually for city sponsored events as well as private events such as lectures, wedding receptions, meetings, art exhibits and other acvtivites of interest to the public. The Center, however, is in need of improvements and expansion to accomodate current users as well as attract potential users. The improvements will include the expansion of the auditorium, restroom and lobby area, the addition of storage space and dressing rooms, as well as the replacement of wallpaper and carpet. These improvements will allow the facility to host events, activities, and functions we currently have to turn away because of the lack of space and amenities. Funds have been budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2000-01 Budget for expansion, however, additional funding is needed towards operational costs while the expansion is occuring. It is requested that the Legislature approve funding assistance in the amount of $500,000 to asssist with the operation funding while expansion is occurring.
