The Long Range Transportation Plan for Tallahassee and Leon County indicates that this roadway needs to be widened to a four-lane facility.  This will provide a much needed intermodal connection between the Tallahassee Regional Airport and Interstate 10, a major interstate highway connecting the west coat and the east coast of the United States.

Project Description:

Capital Circle, Northwest/Southwest is a regionally significant roadway connecting the Tallahassee Regional Airport to Interstate 10. The segment of this roadway from US 90 to I-10 is currently under design with funding committed for right of way acquistion.  The remainder of this roadway from the Tallahassee Regional Airport to Tennessee Street is five miles long and is currently a two-lane road.  The project is estimated to cost approximately thirty millon dollars.  The cost breakdown for the various phases of this project is as follows:

> Project Development and Environment Study $2,500,000

> Design $2,500,000

> Right of Way Acquisition and Construction $25,000,000

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The improvement of this section would compliment the other phases of this project.  It is believed that once complete, the enhanced transportation along with scheduled airport improvements will create freight related opportunities, creating new jobs.  This improvement will also stimulate the creation of new jobs at Innovation Park, a high tech business park located west of the airport.
