Project Description:

Funding is sought to complete the final design for "Segment 2" of the Cascades Greenway, which adjourns the State Capital Complex.  Completion of the hydraulic studies and final design over next two years will allow construction of the community's highest priority project to begin as soon as local capital improvement funds become available.  The property targeted for analysis is state-owned.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The Cascades Greenway Linear Park is an integral component of the Gaines Street Redevelopment Project.  Design and construction of this portion of the Cascades Greenway will provide an anchor to the Gaines Street redevelopment initiative and will address significant stormwater management deficiencies in downtown Tallahassee, which includes the state office complex.  The Cascades Greenway will function as urban open space and would incorporated bicycle and pedestrian facilities and a series of stormwater treatment ponds and conveyances.  The Greenway would complement the Gaines Street transportation corridor, which has been the highest priority project for the Tallahassee-Leon County Metropolitian Planning Organization for the past two years.  Fully implemented, the Greenway would interconnect the Capital Complex, downtown Tallahassee, the area's two state universities and two historical neighborhoods.
