Project Description:

The Manatee Glen's Clubhouse Employment project will provide a restorative, vocational center for severe and persistently mentally ill members.  Through member participation in meaningful work activities, members prepare to enter the workforce.  The Clubhouse will be self-contained, not attached to other mental health facilities.  Through meal preparation, horticulture, office work, computer training, and educational activites, mebers learn to arrive at a regularly scheduled time and successfully learn to complete work tasks.  Transitional employment will be offered for up to six months where a job is provided in community followed by supported employment and independent employment.  The facility will provide adequate space for all of the above activites -- approximately 5,000 square feet.  The goal is to enlist 100 members with attendance averaging 25 per day.  Operation 8:30am to 5:00pm.  Priority consumers would include discharges from state hospital or residential treatment, class members of the federal lawsuit or FACT team consumers and those at risk of admission to state hospital, residential treatment or crisis unit.
