Project Description:

The MIA mover is an elevated Automated People Mover (APM) system traveling on a Fixed Guideway connecting three elevated stations in front of the Miami International Airport (MIA) passenger terminal to transport passengers between the terminals and the planned Miami Intermodal Center (MIC).  The MIA mover will enhance the Ground Transportation / Landside access to Miami Internation Airport by relieving traffic in the passenger terminal areas, terminal curbfronts and on the main access roadways into MIA. Ground Transportation accesses to MIA is the critical factor that can cap the capacity of MIA.  Due to its landlocked nature and lack of real estate to supplement existing roadway systems, the MIA Mover is the only viable solution to enhance the Ground Transportation / Landside system in a manner that will allow MIA to meet project origin and destination passenger demand.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Relief of passenger traffic in terminal areas, terminal curbfronts and on the main access roadways into and out of MIA.
