Statewide Interest:
The proposed building will support a pilot project htat tests a change in Florida's mandatory requirement for school aendance from age 16 to 18. Neighboring districts have already visited our project. While twelve states already have such a requirement, mandatory attendance to 18 is foreign to the State's other counties. If implemented in Florida, this change would help to solve the State's workforce problems.

Project Description:
The MCSB proposes to centralize the district's alternative education programs through the construction and operation of a multi-story building with 105,636 square feet. By so doing, the County will be able to intake counsel, tutor, teach, and otherwise train its diengaged youths in a permanent site.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
1)To contruct 750 permanent single-site stations for County teens who have dropped out or who fit the County's dropout profile and 2) to assist more than two-thirds of these teens to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent.
