Project Description:
The Center for Haitian Studies proposes to provide culturally competent education and prevention services to an identified group of underserved Haitian American immigrants who, due to linguistic and cultural barriers, are not targeted by traditional health education programs in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The Center proposes to conduct outreach activities including group presentations, one-to-one interventions, home visits, development and distribution of culturally sensitive audiovisual education materials to members of the target population.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Process evaluation will be documented through the maintenance of attendance records/logs of presentations and activities conducted. The overall outcome of this project will be evaluated on the basis of documented reduction of cardiovascular diseases among the Haitian American population of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
