Project Description:

Systematic implementation of the CHILD instructional model  in at least 2 pilot districts.  CHILD (Changing How Instruction for Learning is Delivered) is a proven state-funded standards-based instructional delivery system for grades k-5 that improves student performance in reading, writing and mathematics.  This project will fund a systematic approach to school improvement throughout at least 2 districts with an emphasis on school-wide, rather than piecemeal implementation of proven best practices.  Funding will also be provided to enable additional districts to apply for school-wide implementation grants to expand existing CHILD schools to school-wide, or for new school start-ups.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Improved student performance on FCAT in reading, writing and mathematics.  Improved student attendance and discipline referrals.  Increased teacher retention and recruitment of new teachers.  Increased parent involvement and satisfaction.
