| To provide a scheduled, frequent, low-cost, simple water transit system; Develop a waterborne transit system to service the critical mass along the beach and downtown area; reduce single occupancy trips, decreasing air pollution; increase access to congested areas; provide inter-modal transportation, linking downtown parking with the beach; alleviate traffic congestion from future residential growth in the downtown area; encourage mainland parking usage, reducing the beach parking crunch; help cut down seasonal traffic variations and rush hour congestion; provide waterborne transit alternative to the 3 years of 17th street bridge construction congestion; adapt to accommodate the expansion of the Port and Airport, extend both north and south in the county; provide mass transit for major events such as the Air & Sea Show and Boat shows. | |||||||||
