| Provides education in diabetes to the public, to patients with diabetes and to professionals working in the area of diabetes. Comprehensive diabetes care reduces the risk of long-term complications (blindness, kidney failure, amputation). The Diabetes Centers train healthcare providers and patients, particularly those giving and receiving care at the county health departments on up-to-date management and provide model outpatient services. Expected outcome includes improved care of people with Diabetes Mellitus. Leading to reduced complications and lower costs to the State. | |||||||||
