627.096  Workers' Compensation Rating Bureau.--

(1)  There is created within the department a Workers' Compensation Rating Bureau, which shall make an investigation and study of all insurers authorized to issue workers' compensation and employer's liability coverage in this state. Such bureau shall study the data, statistics, schedules, or other information as it may deem necessary to assist and advise the department in its review of filings made by or on behalf of workers' compensation and employer's liability insurers. The department shall have the authority to promulgate rules requiring all workers' compensation and employer's liability insurers to submit to the rating bureau any data, statistics, schedules, and other information deemed necessary to the rating bureau's study and advisement.

(2)  The acquisition by the Department of Management Services of data processing software, hardware, and services necessary to carry out the provisions of this act for the Treasurer's Management Information Center of the Department of Insurance shall be exempt from the provisions of part I of chapter 287.
