Job Title: Clinic Nurse (RN) - OPS Position (Anticipate filling late August 2011)
General Summary:
This is work performing professional nursing care and providing treatment of patients in the Legislative Clinic.
Examples of Work Performed:
Assists full-time registered nurse in providing medical care to patients in the Legislative Clinic.
Charts and records administration of medication and treatment.
Assists in routine clinic services such as taking vital signs and dispensing non-prescriptive
medications.
Administers medication prescribed by a physician.
Observes patients for deviations from normal conditions.
Prepares clinic rooms and equipment.
Maintains inventory of clinic supplies and drugs.
Makes assessments of patients conditions.
During regular session, assists in coordinating the Doctor of the Day program with the Office
of Legislative Services.
Conducts periodic satellite clinic.
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Ability to administer prescribed medications.
Ability to provide direct patient care and treatment.
Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to use tact and exercise good judgment when interacting with members and employees of
the Legislature, other agencies, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure as a registered professional nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.
Rate of Pay:
$17.28 hourly
