Job Title

Information Systems Programmer/Analyst (OLITS)

Working Title

UI/UX Applications Designer/Developer

General Summary

The Office of Legislative Information Technology Services (OLITS) is seeking a UI/UX Designer/Developer to join its Applications team in Tallahassee, Florida.  The position requires a combination of various applied and soft skills. The successful candidate will have experience in most areas of the UI/UX design process and will be responsible for: User research, visual design, interaction design, wireframes, prototyping, client-side software development and user testing and style guides.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Consult with Business Analysts and users in defining system specifications
  • Document functional design specifications from user requirements
  • Develop accessible client-side (client-facing) software
  • Assist in research and implementation of development tool sets
  • Develop wireframes and proof of concepts to demonstrate techniques and functionality
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems
  • Provide management status briefings
  • Perform other related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of ASP .Net, Visual Studio, C#, MVC
  • Knowledge of Razor, Custom Helper Classes
  • Knowledge of KnockoutJS, Angular, or similar framework
  • Knowledge of Agile software development, including SCRUM
  • Knowledge of Web Services (ASMX, WCF, Web API, RESTful services)
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or similar tool
  • Knowledge of Team Foundation Server
  • Knowledge of Git version control
  • Knowledge of ADA Section 508 compliancy
  • Ability to process information logically
  • Ability to analyze and interpret computer program data
  • Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements
  • Ability to prepare program specifications
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbal and written
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, design skills, and ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with studies in information technology, communication, online/print publishing or graphic arts and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible design experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
Extensive Knowledge and actual work experience with:
  • Web development with JavaScript, Typescript, AJAX, HTML5, CSS/SASS/LESS and jQuery 
  • Design methodologies for web desktop and mobile applications
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Experience with Bootstrap
