Job Title

OPS Executive Secretary-Records Management Unit

General Summary

The Office of the Clerk is accepting applications for an OPS Executive Secretary for the Records Management Unit.  This is full-time temporary employment and requires extensive evening work during the legislative session.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Attends House sessions, handles original House documents, maintains records, and assists House members. 

Prepares original bills and amendments for session using the Calendar of the House and specialized computer programs. 

Proofreads documents for accuracy, paying special attention to spelling and prescribed format. 

Proficiently operates general office equipment and various computer programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook, and maintains physical and electronic files. 

Trains as back-up operator of the House Vote Board and Debate Timer.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of secretarial and/or clerical experience.  Possession of a Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) Certificate can substitute for the required experience.  College education can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.  Vocational/technical training in an area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
