553.503  Adoption of guidelines.--Subject to the exceptions in s. 553.504, the federal Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines, as adopted by reference in 28 C.F.R., part 36, subparts A and D, and Title II of Pub. L. No. 101-336, are hereby adopted and incorporated by reference as the law of this state. The guidelines shall establish the minimum standards for the accessibility of buildings and facilities built or altered within this state. The 1997 Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction must be adopted by the Board of Building Codes and Standards in accordance with chapter 120.
