320.0843  License plates for wheelchair users.--

(1)  Any owner or lessee of a motor vehicle who resides in this state and is permanently confined to a wheelchair, upon application to the department accompanied by competent and appropriate proof of disability, and upon payment of the license tax for a motor vehicle registered under s. 320.08(2), (3)(a), (b), (c), or (e), (6)(a), or (9)(c) or (d), shall be issued a license plate as provided by s. 320.06 which, in lieu of the serial number prescribed by s. 320.06, shall be stamped with the international wheelchair user symbol after the serial number of the license plate.

(2)  All applications for such license plates shall be made to the department.
